The following letter was sent today to the editor of the Californian in response:
I am shocked, though I guess I shouldn't be after cycling in the city of Temecula
But what is even more shocking is that letter writers to this newspaper applaud the assailant and the illegal, dangerous act. One suggested that someone throw a roll of quarters. That would be a criminal act if it were carried out. If it were a car to car shooting, there would be outrage and panic because we all drive cars. Some of us are also out there on two wheels, but attacks against cyclists don't seem to generate outrage or action. Let's prosecute every attack against cyclists.

Thank you Rick and all the considerate drivers *(majority) and Aaron @ Californian for running with this story, its not about me and seems there is more than a few isolated incidents and this is the real problem we have - what are you people thinking when you throw something or even yell at cyclists, we aren't doing anything except extending our lifespans *(hopefully) and our lung capacity and leg strength - being on the receiving end of these coin attacks is certainly not a place to be - luckily (thus far) the only thing injured has been my pride - not too fun getting pelted by anything on any occasion. But the last time was an eye opener - I guess since I ride a lot and ride alone, I am a target. Getting a GoPro HD video camera on the bike is on the menu and I hope to catch HD video of you the next time around, so Steven Stone - you better hope you aren't serious, or I will have some HD video of you throwing something @ me next time.
